A Saga of Trust | અમારા વિશે
1930 saw India in the throes of the Freedom Struggle. A giant nation was slowly
awakening to a dawn of hope.
Men with vision and foresight could visualize a united nation, free from the shackles
of an imposed rule, a nation with the right to determine its own future.
One such person was Shri Amrtilal Sheth who formed the Saurashtra Trust in 1931
and launched the Gujarati Daily JANMABHOOMI on 9th June 1934 in Bombay.
A Trust was established with the objective of helping and conducting institutions
to carry out public service of a charitable nature.
A Trust with no leanings or affiliation to any political or religious party.
A Trust with a policy and perspective that was truly national, committed to objective
dissemination of news and views.
Born in the crucible of the Independence Movement, fired with the spirit of nationalism,
forged out of a rigid national policy that never wavered, the Janmabhoomi Group
played the vital role of a catalyst as India hurtled towards its tryst with destiny.
Today the Janmabhoomi continues to express the consciousness of an Independent India.
It achieves this through Janmabhoomi, Pravasi weekly, Vyapar, Phulchhab, Kutchmitra,
Kavita and Panchang.
Kavita: A 41 year old bi-monthly Publication of Poems in Gujarati. Rare event in
the world of literature.
Panchang: A 64 year old annual Gujarati Astrological Ephemeri. Based on Scientific
accuracy.
Reference Library: Unique in Indian language newspapers.
